Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The European Journal of Molecular Pharmacy (EJMP) is dedicated to the utmost ethical behavior and integrity throughout the research and publication process. This Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement provides guidelines and criteria on the issue of conduct of authors, reviewers, and editors in order to guarantee that a work of publication is credible, transparent, and just.

Ethical Standards for Authors

Any author who submits their work to EJMP would need to make sure that:

  • Originality: All the work will be of original and unpublished work and it is not under review in other journals.
  • Proper Reporting: Research findings, data and interpretations are given without fabrication, falsification and manipulation of data.
  • Appropriate Citation: Sources, ideas, and other contributions of other people are properly cited in order to prevent plagiarism.
  • Authorship Integrity: Each of the listed authors has done something of significance to the work, and is content with the version of the final text.
  • Reporting of Conflicts: All financial assistance, affiliation, or relationship that might affect the research shall be properly disclosed.
  • Ethical Compliance: When conducting research that involves human activities, animals or sensitive materials, the research will have to adhere to the pertinent ethical considerations and institutional approval.

Failure to observe these principles can result in rejection, retraction or additional action as may be felt fit by the journal.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

The role of reviews is critical towards quality and fairness. They are expected to:

  • Maintain Confidentiality: Keep all materials that are under review confidential and not to share or use them to your own advantage.
  • Give Constructive Feedback: Concisely and objectively state and give helpful comments to assist the editorial team and author.
  • Avoid Conflicts of Interest: Report to the editor in case there is any relationship or interest that can interfere with impartial judgement.
  • Respect Timelines: Full reviews in reasonable time to facilitate smooth editing process.

Those reviewers not meeting these standards might be disqualified in further reviewing exercises.

Editorial Integrity and Decision-Making

The editors have the overall content and ethical standards in the journal. Their duties include:

  • Fair Evaluation: Basing the decision on the academic quality only, the scope relevance and the reviewer feedback.
  • Confidential Process: taking confidentially of submissions and the identities of reviewers.
  • Dealing with Misconduct: Investigating and dealing with complaints of misconduct or Ethical allegations.

People do not make editorial decisions based on the commercial aspects and being able to afford publishing fees.

Dealing with Misconduct/Malpractice

EJMP does not ignore any claim of research or publication misconduct. Should there be ethical considerations to be made - e.g.: plagiarism, redundancy, making up data or unhealthy research procedures then the journal will:

  • Explore the issue comprehensively.
  • Ask authors to explain/clarify their work.
  • Impose sanctions, withdrawals or publication prohibitions as required.
  • Report to the appropriate institutions, funding agencies or authorities, where necessary.

Such measures assist in defending scientific records and keeping faith in research publications.

Commitment to Ethical Publishing

The European Journal of Molecular Pharmacy has ethical standards of scholarly publication that are globally accepted. With a culture of honesty, accountability and transparency, EJMP promotes a trustworthy and reputable academic environment that would be beneficial to authors, reviewers, readers and the scientific community.
